Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD)


Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is the term for a range of conditions caused by a increase of fat in the liver. It's normally seen in patients who gain weight.

Adopting a Nutritionally healthy lifestyle is the main way of managing NAFLD. Below are the plan of action: 

weight loss – you should target a BMI of 18.5-24.9. Losing more than 20% of your weight can eliminate some fat from the liver and help your Blood pressure be better.

Eat a Nutritionally healthy diet – try to have a well balanced diet high in fruits, vegetables, protein and carbohydrates, but low in fat, sugar and salt. Eating smaller and regular portions of food can help too.

Exercise regularly – aim to do at least 30mins activity fo 5 days in a week where you do moderate-intensity activity, such as walking or cycling. 

Quite smoking – if you smoke, Quiting can help reduce your risk of problem and other medical conditions as well.
